ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season, 16-5, on a chilly Wednesday afternoon to Ohio Northern University. The Thunder (4-1) were led by
Sydney Weiss with three goals. The Polar Bears improve to 6-4.
Elizabeth Larson won seven draw controls and grabbed three ground balls,
Evalyn Bellotti also had three ground balls.
Trine held tough early, with four goals before the midway point of the second quarter. Weiss tied it at one while Larson and
Isabel Fischer scored advantage goals to help cut the ONU lead to 5-4.
ONU would score the next five goals to take control of the game. Weiss added her third in the third quarter but it did little to stop the Polar Bears momentum. Northern scored the game's final six goals and ended the Thunder's perfect start to the season.
Trine returns to action of Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they host Wittenberg University.
