Women's Lacrosse off to Best Ever Start with 13-11 Win over Wisconsin-Stout

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team is off to its best start in program history with a 13-11 win over the University of Wisconsin-Stout this afternoon. Trine is now 4-0 for the first time in program history. The Thunder's previous best start to a season was the 2022 campaign when they started 3-0. Wisconsin-Stout falls to 4-3.
 
Sydney Weiss led with five goals while Erin Fariello and Izabelle Dominski each added hat tricks.  Kelsey Yanagihara made 13 saves in goal for the Thunder.
 
Trine held the advantage in a low scoring first quarter, a pair of goals from Weiss gave the Thunder a 2-1 advantage. The Thunder turned up the heat in the second quarter with seven goals. Weiss completed her hat trick with a pair and Fariello also had two. Yanagihara kept the Blue Devils at bay with four saves and allowed the offense to build a 9-4 lead at the break.
 
The Devils offense was paced by Mai Nou Vang who notched seven goals on the day including four of UW-Stout's six in the second half. Trine mustered four goals to preserve the lead. Fariello and Dominski scored in the third while Fariello and Weiss netted fourth quarter goals. Yanagihara made a heroic save in the final minute to stave off the comeback attempt and give Trine the win.
 
The Thunder return to Shive Field on Wednesday evening for a 6:00 p.m. matchup with Ohio Northern University.
