Women's Hockey Stymied by Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Trine University women's hockey team dropped the weekend's second game against their hosts from Marian University. The final score of today's contest was 2-0.

Just like last night, neither team scored in the first period of the game. The Sabres broke the stalemate in the 11th minute of the second period. The power play goal was set up by the lone penalty of the weekend for the Thunder. Marian scored their second goal in the 13th minute of the third to secure the 2-0 victory.

Zsuzsa Révész played in net for Trine and finished the contest with 32 saves despite the loss. Offensively Dorka Gengeliczky and Cassandra Biblow led the team with four shots each.

The Thunder fall to 7-14-2 overall and 3-12-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play. Trine will finish out the regular season next weekend with a home-and-home series against Adrian College. The Bulldogs currently lead the NCHA standings by one point.

The Thunder continue to battle for the final spot in the Slaats Cup Playoffs. The team leads the University of Dubuque by one point in the standings and have four points on Lawrence University. Both teams currently hold tiebreakers on Trine, so the team will need to stay at-least a point ahead. The Spartans will take on Aurora University while the Vikings face St. Norbert College.

Trine hosts Adrian for game one of the series on Friday, February 13 before hitting the road for the regular season finale on Saturday, February 14. Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
