ANGOLA, Ind. – Three Thunder recorded hat tricks in the Trine University women's lacrosse team's 17-3 dismantling of Bethel (Ind.) University.
Izabelle Dominski tallied four goals and
Isabel Fischer and
Sydney Weiss each netted 3 for the Thunder (2-0). Bethel falls to 0-1 in its season opener.
Kelsey Yanagihara got the win in goal, stopping four shots. Trine was 14-of-15 on the clear and peppered the Pilots keeper with 34 shots. Trine won 14 draw controls and connected on 5-of-7 free-position shots.
Bethel was quick with the first goal. The Pilots won the draw control and immediately went on the offensive, scoring just 40 seconds into the game. Trine answered with the next nine goals, setting the tone from there. Dominski notched the first two in solo efforts,
Hayden Dahlinger added the next, also solo.
Erin Fariello won six draw controls for Trine, she scored a pair of goals, notched an assist and grabbed three ground balls in an all around performance. She assisted
Elizabeth Larson on Trine's fourth goal. Fischer, Dominski, and Fariello added the next goals. Weiss added two goals to help Trine build an 11-2 lead at the half.
Fariello netted the first goal of the second half in woman-up fashion,
Sydney Strolberg added Trine's second advantage goal. Fischer and Weiss completed their hat tricks in the fourth quarter to pad a strong Thunder lead.
Trine returns to action next Saturday, March 7th, with a trip to Hiram College at 2:00 p.m.
