ANGOLA, Ind. – The #20 Trine University women's basketball team wrapped up back-to-back MIAA Championships on Saturday afternoon with a come from behind win over Calvin University. Trine (21-3, 15-0 MIAA) earns their seventh MIAA Regular Season Championship in the last ten seasons with the win over the Knights (14-10, 9-6 MIAA).

The win is Trine's 15th consecutive and 33rd consecutive MIAA win. Trine has now won or shared the MIAA Title in four of the last five seasons, the one being the 2023-24 season where they claimed the MIAA Tournament Title. Annika Southworth led with 21 points, followed closely by Ally Capouch with 19. Madison Wagner posted a near double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Calvin had a strong start, opening the game with a 12-2 lead before ending the quarter up 18-8. Trine shot well in the first quarter, making four of five shots, but were plagued by a dozen turnovers. Wagner cut the Calvin lead to single digits with a lay up late in the quarter, the Knights regained the 10-point lead with a free throw.

Trine swapped baskets with the Knights through the early portion of the second quarter. Southworth helped the Thunder break through with back-to-back makes from beyond the arc to cut the deficit to four. Addison Hutson pulled the Thunder within two inside a minute to play and Capouch buried a triple to give Trine its first lead with 17 seconds remaining.

Capouch pushed the lead to four out of the half with a triple and Trine led 39-35. Calvin responded with a 12-4 run to regain their advantage. Trine rallied back to tie the game a 50 heading to the fourth behind Capouch's third trey.

The Thunder scored the first eight in the fourth quarter and would not trail the rest of the way. Calvin made a late rally to cut the Thunder advantage to 65-63. Olivia Marks converted an and-one and Southworth made a pair of free throws to push the lead to three possessions and seal the win.
