WEST OLIVE, Mich. – The Trine University men's golf team shook off a rocky start to claim the team title at Monday's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #3 at Wuskowhan Players Club. Trine posted three top-10 individual finishes as they added 11 shots to their lead over Calvin University.

Trine took first place with 291 strokes, seven ahead of hosts Hope College. Albion College took third place while the Knights were fourth. The Thunder's lead is now 15 shots over Calvin University. Trine has won each of the three MIAA Jamborees this fall.

Lance Decker and Jack Besner tied for third place with rounds of 71 (-1). Besner continued his incredibly consistent year with his eighth round at or below par. The junior has played 13 rounds so far this fall and holds an average of 72.62 strokes. Besner notched four birdies on the day including back-to-back on holes one and two.

The lone Thunder golfer with a better average than Besner is Lance Decker. Decker tied Besner with a 71 of his own and like his teammate, did so with four birdies. He found the cup early on holes three, eight, twelve, and sixteen. Decker also owns eight rounds at or below par on the year over the same 13 rounds. Decker's season average sits at 72.15.

Nathan Brennan posted a round of 74 (+2) for a seventh-place finish. Brennan piled up five birdies on the day, finishing strong with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes.

Jake Bilby provided Trine's fourth score with a 75 (+3). Bilby made birdie on hole seven and added 13 pars to his score.

Trine wraps up the fall season next Monday, October 26 at Gull Lake Country Club at MIAA Jamboree #4.
