Men's Soccer Stung by Hornets

ANGOLA, Ind. – A late push by the offense wasn't enough for the Trine University men's soccer team with the Thunder falling to visiting Kalamazoo College by the score of 1-0.

The Hornets scored the lone goal of the game in the ninth minute. A quick throw-in up the far sideline landed behind the Trine defense. A quick run to the box and pass back gave the Thunder defense no chance to stop the shot that went into the opposite side of the net.

The rest of the first half was heavily in favor of Kalamazoo, but the Thunder defense, led by Brandon Walker in net, held them off the board. The Hornets outshot Trine 8-3 overall and 5-2 on goal.

The second half shots total went to the Thunder with Trine finishing with a 9-7 lead overall and a 3-2 lead on goal. The final ten minutes in particular saw the Thunder apply ample pressure in the offensive end. Britton Sala had a few chances on the goal with one going high and one forcing a save.

Nothing found the back of the net and the 1-0 score ultimately went final.

Trine falls to 3-7-1 overall and 1-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play after the loss. They will look to bounce back when they travel to face Hope College on Tuesday, October 13. That match is set to start at 7 p.m.
