Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Thunder Shutout Flying Dutchmen

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team bounced back from Friday's lopsided loss, earning a series split with visiting Lebanon Valley College with a 1-0 shutout victory. Zsuzsa Révész recorded the win in net, her first shutout as a member of the team.

The lone goal of the contest came in the early minutes of the second period. The two teams were scoreless in the first, but a five minute major penalty was recorded against the Flying Dutchmen in the final second of the period.

The Thunder played the first four minutes of that penalty without success. In the fourth minute of the second period Emma-Lyn Stephenson carried the puck into he offensive zone and to the near corner before passing it back to the top of the faceoff dot. Cassandra Biblow received the pass but didn't hold the puck long forwarding it to the top of the slot where Faith Jordan fired a single shot into the back of the net.

The 1-0 lead was ultimately enough, due in no small part to the herculean effort by Révész in net. The freshman turned aside the 48 shots she faced, including 20 in the first, 11 in the second and 17 in the third.

The Thunder improve to 4-8-1 overall after the win. They will continue their season next weekend when they host Chatham University for a pair of games. The two teams will open the series on Friday, January 9 with opening puck faceoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
