ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team picked up their second win of 2026, defeating visiting Chatham University by the score of 3-1. Three different members of the team scored in the contest.
The lone goal of the first period went to the visiting Cougars, who capitalized on their only power play opportunity of the game. They took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Trine responded in the second minute of the next period. A Chatham defender attempted to clear the puck from the zone with Lauren Lacroix and Faith Jordan both tipping the puck along the boards, slowing its progress to just across the blueline. From their Hannah Lambers collected the loose puck and weaved her way through the defenders, including a nifty move around the last Cougar before scoring the goal.
The Thunder took a lead in the ninth minute of the same stanza. Aleah Bienek retook possession of the puck in the far faceoff circle handing it off to Sofia Vidmo who crashed the net and made a pair of shots on goal. The second rebound went to the near side of the crease where Emma-Lyn Stephenson was waiting to poke it home.
The score held until late in the third period. With just under four and a half minutes left in the contest, Chatham pulled their goalie for the extra pressure on offense. In the 19th minute, Trine made them pay. Chloe Downey blocked a shot on defense collecting her own rebound and throwing it down the ice. The long range shot slid over the line and into the empty net to give the team their final 3-1 lead.
Zsuzsa Révész played the game in net for the Thunder, allowing just the one goal. She finished the game with 24 saves and the win.
Trine improves to 5-8-1 overall following the victory. They will look to clinch the sweep by defeating Chatham again tomorrow, Saturday, January 10. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
