ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University ACHA D2 men's hockey team has opened the 2026 portion of their schedule with four straight victories. They now boast a six-game win streak dating back to the beginning of December.

The Thunder opened 2026 by hosting Lake Superior State University for a pair of contests. The first game was played late on Friday, January 16 with Trine coming out on top 3-2. Tyler Riegle and Sam Krauhs opened the scoring in the second giving the team a 2-0 lead for the second intermission. The Lakers scored twice in the third, with Chancellor Coger notching the game winner for Trine, in between the two visiting tallies.

Lucas Henderson played the game in net, making 39 saves on his way to the win.

Saturday saw the teams trade goals through the first two periods. Joshua Danielowski scored in the first and Riley Pawinski scored in the second. The Thunder pulled away in the third, scoring three straight for the 5-2 victory. Krauhs scored the first with William Nilsson tallying the final two. Ian Young played in net making 42 saves.

The team also recognized their seniors during the weekend. Nate Rider, Blake Polifka, and Jack Parks joined Coger, Nilsson and Young on the ice following Saturday's contest. The group combined for ten points during the series, with Nilsson leading the group with two goals and two assists.

This past weekend the Thunder picked up two more wins, in a home-and-home series against Davenport University. On Friday, the team trailed 3-1 after the first period, but five unanswered on their way to a 7-4 victory. Riegle, Pawinski, Coger, Krauhs, Ethan Ruggeri, Ben Sherman and Connor Lamott each scored in the game. Lamott's goal was his first with the team. Henderson picked up another win in goal.

Saturday saw the teams face off in Thunder Ice Arena, with Trine coming out on top in a 4-1 game. The Thunder scored two goals in the first, one from Nilsson and one from Danielowski, before building their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Trenton Gebben-Thompson in the second. Pawinski rounded out the game with a goal in the third.

Kyle Diehr played in net, earning the win with 25 saves.

Trine now boasts a 12-9 overall record. They will continue their season when they travel to the Lindenwood Showcase in St. Charles, Mo. Their first game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT / 9:30 p.m. ET on Friday, January 30.
