ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University ACHA Division 2 team will join the Great Lakes Six Hockey Conference's new ACHA Division 2 membership. The conference announced the expansion earlier this week, with six teams set to compete in the inaugural 2026-27 season. 

Joining the Thunder will be Adrian College, Calvin University, Davenport University, Purdue University Northwest and Schoolcraft College. The group brings a staggering amount of historical success within ACHA Division 2 and 3. Member teams have been mainstays at the National Tournament and have combined for 7 National Championships.

The GL6 has currently operates in ACHA Division I but are excited to spread to Divison II competition. Four of the six Division 2 member institutions also compete as a part of the GL6 Division 1 conference, with Schoolcraft joining Trine as brand new members.
