#25 Women's Basketball Buries Comets

ANGOLA, Ind. – The 25th ranked Trine University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire for a dominant 92-39 victory over The University of Olivet on Alumni Day inside the MTI Center. Madison Wagner led five Thunder in double figures with 19 points. Trine picks up their eighth straight win and 27th consecutive MIAA win to improve to 15-3, 9-0 MIAA. Olivet falls to 2-15, 0-8 MIAA.
 
Trine opened up a 15-1 lead just past the halfway point of the first and set the tone for a dominant day. Trine made four triples in the run, Callie Nichols struck first then Ally Capouch added one of her four on the day. Annika Southworth and Madison Wagner added one each to finish the run.
 
The Thunder led 22-3 to open the second quarter and scored the first seven points to push the lead to 29-3. Capouch connected on a pair of long balls in the quarter to help Trine build a 40 point halftime advantage. Southworth added six points and Wagner made a trio of free throws and Trine led 49-9 at the break.
 
Trine kept the pedal down out of the half with an 8-3 run to start. Hailey Cole converted a three point play and Capouch buried her fourth from downtown. The lead grew to 69-20 when Gracey Metz made a triple and Wagner knocked in another trio of free throws. Wagner was 9-of-10 from the free throw line on the day.
 
The Thunder went to the bench early in the fourth quarter with the game in hand. Maeve Hadden scored her first career basket with a three pointer that pushed the Thunder past the 90-point mark.
 
The Thunder head to Kalamazoo on Wednesday night for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
