KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Members of the Trine University men's tennis team spent this past weekend competing at the 2025 ITA Regional Championships hosted by Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich.

A pair of Thunder competed in the singles draw and both had tough showings to open their tournament, before picking up a win each in the consolation bracket.

Drew Hackney had a bye to start before falling in a battle with Paul Castleman of DePauw University. Hackney won the first set before falling in the second and a tiebreaker with scores of 6-2, 2-6, 6-10. He went on to win in the first round of the consolation bracket 8-1 before dropping his match with Will Seymour of Kalamazoo 5-8.

Andrew Spirrison turned in a strong performance in his match, taking Max Fickas to a tiebreaker before falling with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 7-10. He defeated Tristan Bonanni of Kalamazoo 8-3 to move to the second round of the consolation bracket where he fell 8-0.

Spirrison was joined by Sammy Yin in the doubles side of the event, where the team faired less well. They dropped both matches, the first against Allegheny College 8-2 and the second against North Central (Ill.) College 8-6.

The event marks the end of the fall portion of Trine's season. They will next compete during their spring break trip in early March next year.
