ANGOLA, Ind. – Three players registered double-digit kills for the Trine University women's volleyball team as they picked up their third consecutive win on Tuesday night inside Hershey Hall. Julia Maggio led with 15, Elli Baker added 13, and Reese Steenwyk had 11. Trine moves to 5-10 on the year and drops the Bluffton University Beavers to 7-10.

Trine earned the win in gentlemen's sweep style, spotting the visiting Beavers the first set before taking the next three 25-23, 25-20, and 25-19.

Bluffton quickly took a 10-3 lead, forcing the Thunder to call a timeout. Out of the timeout, Trine leveled the score at 13 with a 10-3 run of their own. Four different Thunder registered a kill with Maggio leading the way with a pair. The Thunder tied the match twice more but were unable to gain the lead.

Set two was evenly matched with 12 ties and five lead changes. The Thunder tallied six aces in the set, Cali Stevons and Maggio each had two; Kylie Rowland and Anna Zellers had one each. Zellers would tally 25 assists in the match. Trine trailed 20-17 but would score eight of the next 11 points to claim the set. Maggio bounced three kills and an ace, Zellers found a gap in the Beavers' dam for her own ace to tie things at one set each.

Trine was able to take control of set three early with a 14-10 lead with kills from five different players. Bluffton rallied back for a 20-19 lead but the Thunder were up to the task. Maggio started a 6-0 run to claim the set with a kill, Baker added two and Emmaline Leatherman had one of her own to give Trine the third set.

The Beavers did not go quietly, tying the fourth set six times and taking the lead once. Trine broke through on a pair of aces from Stevons and a kill from Steenwyk. The 5-0 run put the Thunder in control of what would be the final set. The Thunder recorded six of their final seven points by kill to earn their first win streak of the season.

Trine remains at home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest against Earlham College.
