Thunder Fall to Cardinals

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Trine University men's soccer team posted a comeback attempt against their hosts from the Otterbein University but ultimately fell by the score of 2-1.

Neither team scored in the first half, but the Cardinals did build a commanding lead in shots. They posted five shots in the half with three coming on goal. Brandon Walker stood up to the pressure making all three saves in net.

Otterbein ultimately broke through in the second, scoring in the 53rd and 68th minutes. They also continued to outshoot Trine, finishing the game with a 14-5 advantage.

The Thunder put on the comeback effort in the 71st minute when Mohamed Aljably scored with Tyler Niemi adding assist. The team was unable to find another goal to draw even and the score went on to finalize at 2-1.

Trine falls to 1-6-1 overall following the loss. They will head to Greencastle, Ind. to face DePauw University for their next match. That contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24.
