ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University baseball team succumbed to a late rally by the University of Olivet Comets on senior day at Jannen Field.
William Taczak was 4 of 5 at the plate for Trine who falls to 10-27 (4-15 MIAA), Olivet improves to 9-28 (4-15 MIAA).

th appearance on the mound for the Thunder. Both teams scored in the first inning with
Joel Walton scoring
Luke Burford on an RBI single. Olivet would take the lead in the second inning, 2-1. Trine scored three in the third and fourth and sandwiched a 1-2-3 defensive effort in the top of the fourth to take a 7-2 lead.
Max Hoogeveen belted an RBI double to the left field fence to score Taczak. He then scored on a wild play by the Comets defense.
Kyle Martin plated the third run of the third with a sac fly to score
Preston Henschen. Taczak ripped an RBI single to the right fielder as Burford scored his second run, Taczak then scored on another Comet error. Walton crossed on a
Cole Temple single to build the advantage.
Olivet would rally back with two runs in the sixth and eighth innings. Trine added one to their lead on another Taczak RBI single. Trine had the Comets down to their final three outs leading 8-6. The Comet bats again came to life and registered three runs on three hits to steal the lead 9-8. Olivet slammed the door with a 1-2-3 inning of their own to take the win.
The two squads will close their respective seasons on Sunday at Olivet with a doubleheader set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
