Men's Lacrosse Frozen at Home

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's lacrosse team fell to visiting Albion College by the score of 11-4, on an unseasonably cold and snowy evening in Zollner Stadium.

The teams spent the first six minutes feeling out the field conditions and each other's defenses. It was the visiting Britons who found the first weak space, scoring a pair of goals near the midpoint of the period.

Vin Pantano set up Riley Fischer to cut the deficit back to one with 5:20 remaining in the period, but Albion scored the final three goals to take a 5-1 lead. Rocco Curatola scored the first goal of the second quarter, before the visitors scored the final four of the half to take a 9-2 lead into halftime.

Out of the intermission, Albion scored two goals in the third period, to build their biggest lead of the night at 11-2. Trine repaid the favor in the fourth on the back of goals from Collin Custer and Chris Molnar to mark the final score of 11-4. JJ Boos and Curatola added assists.

Defensively, Danny Kelly led the was for the Thunder finishing with a team high four caused turnovers and five groundballs. Zachary Norris finished second with three caused turnovers while adding three groundballs.

Luke Arnold made the start in net and struggled in the conditions, making just one save while recording the loss. Zade Gawrys entered partway into the second quarter and played a fantastic ret of the game making 12 saves while allowing just four more goals.

The Thunder fall to 11-2 overall and 1-1 in MIAA games. The team will return to the field when they travel to face Calvin University on Saturday, April 12. That game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
