Box Score HOLLAND, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team was swept by their hosts from Hope College, the first loss for the team in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play.

The Thunder did pick up a win in the top doubles match, but it wasn't enough for a team point with the Flying Dutch winning the other two. The No. 1 pair of Drew Hackney and Andrew Spirrison won that match 6-4.

Elijah Schuilthuis put up a strong fight in the No. 3 singles match but fell with scores of 4-6, 4-6. In another valiant effort, Emmett Wirth nearly forced a tiebreaker but dropped the final three games of the second set to fall 0-6, 5-7 in the No. 5 match.

Trine falls to 8-8 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play following the loss. They will continue their season by traveling to face Calvin University on Wednesday, April 9. That dual match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
