ANGOLA, Ind. – Men's Volleyball posted 39 kills to just 7 errors and hit .360 as they rolled to a three set senior night sweep of Mount St. Joseph on Friday night inside Hershey Hall. Kevin Boncaro had 14 kills and Karl Both added three third set blocks to lead Trine to an MCVL Tournament clinching win.
 
Trine took the match 25-17, 26-24, 25-17.
 
Trine took set one in commanding fashion hitting .536 with no errors. MSJ tied things at one but Trine would lead from there, Boncaro got rolling early with 5 kills in the first frame. The Lions kept things close, cutting the lead to one and then again to two later. Leading 16-12, Carter Steffgen sent a missile back to the Lions side of the net that echoed through the halls of Hershey. The momentum shift was evident as Trine closed the set on a 9-5 run.
 
Set two was much tighter, featuring nine ties and three lead changes, Boncaro added seven more kills and Ryan McDonald dished out 13 of his 30 assists. MSJ pulled out to an 18-13 lead and things looked bleak for the Thunder, Trine rallied back with five of the next seven to trail 20-18. Backs to the wall down 22-19, Boncaro delivered two kills and Steffgen a third to tie the game. The Lions were able to force an extra set point but it was again Boncaro, this time with a block, to take set two.
 
Trine raced out to a 7-1 lead in set three and took advantage of seven Lion attacking errors and eight service errors to cruise to a sweep. Both recorded all three of his blocks by Trine's 10^th point.
 
Trine is in the MCVL Tournament for a fifth consecutive season and will be either the 2,3, or 4 seed depending on results around the league tomorrow and tie breakers.
