ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University baseball team close out their midweek MIAA series with a loss to the Adrian College Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon. Four players recorded a hit in the 10-0 run rule loss. Trine is now 9-20 (3-9 MIAA) and Adrian moves to 18-12 (10-2 MIAA).
Trine started strong defensively, allowing two baserunners through two innings and turning a 5-4-3 double play to end the second frame.
Cole Temple fielded and threw to
William Taczak for the play at second base and he fired to
Joel Walton to beat the runner at first. The Bulldogs settled into the batter's box after a Trine pitching change, adding five runs in the third. Temple added a single in the fourth inning but was left stranded with a ground out ending the inning in the next Thunder at bat. Adrian added four runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to push their lead to 10-0 and end the game after seven innings.
Trine will travel to Kalamazoo tomorrow for a single game at 4:00 p.m. before hosting the Hornets on Saturday in a double header.
