KALAMAZOO, Mich. –
Luke Burford collected three hits and
Preston Henschen drove in two runs but the Trine University baseball team came up short, 12-2 to the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Thursday afternoon. Trine is now 9-21 (3-10 MIAA) while the Hornets move to 18-11 (5-8 MIAA).
Kalamazoo opened up a 5-0 lead over the first five innings, Henschen answered in the sixth with a two run blast to left field that scored
Tyler Wise and pulled Trine within striking distance. A four run sixth inning and three run seventh from K-Zoo dashed any hope of a Thunder comeback.
The squads will meet on Saturday at Jannen Field for a double header to close out the series. The first game is set for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
