NOTRE DAME, Ind. –
Alyssa Keptner and
Brooke Hoag scored five goals each to lead the Trine University Women's Lacrosse team to an 18-7 victory over Saint Mary's College on Saturday afternoon. Trine remains unbeaten in the MIAA with the win, now 9-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. SMC goes to 5-7 (2-2 MIAA).
The Belle's struck first just 40 seconds into the game, it would be their only lead of the day. Hoag got her first just two minutes later and
Elizabeth Larson added two more as Trine took a 3-1 advantage. Larson won nine draw controls and added two assists and three ground balls to seal an impactful outing. Keptner also had a do-it-all day adding two ground balls, three caused turnovers, and four draw controls to her five goals. The hosts cut the lead to 3-2 but Trine answered with the next five goals to pull away for good. Hoag completed her hat trick and then added another for good measure, Kepter scored her first and
Avelyn McCall added one of her own. Trine led 9-2 at the break.
The pace slowed for the Thunder in the third, the hosts held Trine scoreless over the first nine minutes. McCall broke through with her second goal and
Izabelle Dominski quickly followed with another.
Alyssa Lahutsky and
Alyssa Keptner scored just 13 seconds apart to close out the quarter for Trine. Keptner scored her third to open the final frame before adding two more, Dominski also completed a hat trick in the fourth quarter. The freshman now rides a four game hat trick streak.
The Thunder head to Hope College on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. first draw.
