Saints Too Much for Thunder

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University Baseball team lost both games of a double header against Siena Heights this afternoon. Cole Temple and Nathan Gilmet led the Thunder with two hits each on the day. Trine is now 6-10.

Trine registered four hits in game one from four different batters. The Thunder took advantage of four Saints errors to score two of their three runs. Temple reached second on an error that allowed Kyle Martin to score. The run tied the game at one in the bottom of the second. SHU scored the next seven, Tyler Wise scored on a sixth inning fly out and Joel Walton touched home on a groundout to provide the final margin of 8-3.

The Thunder struck first in game two. Temple delivered an RBI single to score Brody Bond. Luke Burford recorded a double in the fifth inning. Will Gimbel allowed just two Saints batters to reach base in 3.2 innings of relief. He surrendered one hit and walked one with three strikeouts.

Trine closes out the nonconference portion of it's schedule with a Tuesday afternoon standalone game against Ohio Northern. That game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
