McCall Tallies Seven Assists, Women's Lacrosse Rolls past Mount St. Joseph

CINCINNATI – Avelyn McCall tied for the second most assists in a single game to lead the Trine University Women's Lacrosse team to a 19-6 non-conference victory over the Mount St. Joseph University Lions on Saturday morning. Brooke Hoag, Sydney Weiss, and Alyssa Keptner each tallied hat tricks in the win. Trine is now 4-1 while the Lions go to 1-4.
 
Trine opened the game with the first seven goals, Keptner completed her hat trick in just 5:23 of game time. McCall assisted on two of the three. Elizabeth Larson, Alyssa Lahutsky, Izabelle Dominski, and Evalyn Bellotti all tallied goals. Trine added two more goals from Sydney Strolberg and Lillian O'Neal to take a 9-1 advantage to the second quarter.
 
Weiss, Hoag, Grace Larson, and Lahutsky notched goals as Trine outscored MSJ 4-0 in the second frame. Weiss completed her hat trick in the third with two more goals, the third coming by way of McCall. McCall assisted Strolberg to open the fourth quarter before getting in on the scoring herself. Hoag notched the final goal for the Thunder with McCall's seventh and final assist.
 
Trine returns to Shive Field for a Monday afternoon tilt with Spalding (Ky.). That game is set for a 4 p.m. start.
