ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University Women's Lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to NAIA-foe Bethel (IN) this afternoon at Shive Field. The Pilots rallied back for a 14-13 defeat of the Thunder.
Brooke Hoag and
Alyssa Keptner each had four goals for the Thunder who are 3-1. Bethel is now 3-2.
Keptner scored the first two, followed by
Alyssa Lahutsky and
Izabelle Dominski as Trine opened a 4-1 lead. The Pilots were dealt a red card late in the first quarter but responded with three man-down goals in the second frame. Keptner put Trine back in the lead with her hat trick goal for a 6-5 advantage. Hoag also had a first half hat trick. She scored her second and third back-to-back to give Trine an 8-7 halftime advantage.
Keptner and Hoag each scored their fourth to open the second half as Trine used four unanswered goals for a 10-7 lead. Bethel again responded, scoring three more to tie things at 10. Dominski, Lahutsky, and
Evalyn Bellotti each scored to give Trine a 13-10 lead with 8:02 remaining. One final answer by the Pilots proved to be too much as Bethel scored the final four goals to take the game 14-13.
Trine will head to Cincinnati tomorrow for an 11:00 a.m. match up with Mount St. Joseph.
