Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Closes Regular Season

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team fell for the second night in a row to nationally-ranked Adrian College. Tonight, the seventh-ranked Bulldogs won 7-0.

Despite the still lopsided score, the game felt like a closer affair than the first half of the weekend doubleheader. The Thunder finished with 19 shots on goal, nearly double their total from Friday's contest. Kailey Mleko, Abby Martin and Dorka Gengeliczky led the team with three shots on goal each.

In net, Claire Schmaltz made the start, but only made it through the first seven minutes of the game. Annie Kindseth finished out the contest and recorded 50 more saves to make her weekend total 140.

The Thunder finish the regular season with an 8-15-2 overall record and a 5-11-2 record in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play. They will have to wait for the results from around the league before knowing their opponents for next weekend's opening round of the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs. It will either be the Bulldogs again or a trip to face St. Norbert College.
