ANGOLA, Ind. – Emmaline Leatherman had a dominant Senior Night to lead the Trine University women's volleyball team to a three set victory over Alma College inside Hershey Hall. The senior had 16 kills on .387 hitting and added five blocks on defense. Fellow senior Anna Zellers had a 20 assist, 12 dig double-double for the Thunder 10-13 (5-2 MIAA) who clinched a home game in the MIAA Tournament with the win.

Trine took the match in straight sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-22. Reese Steenwyk and Elli Baker added 10 kills each.

Leatherman started hot with seven kills in nine attempts in set one. She broke up Alma's 3-0 advantage to start the game and then tied the game at 10 and 11 with two more. Leatherman turned a 16-16 tie into a 20-16 lead with three more kills. She and Baker added two more down the stretch as Trine took set one 25-20.

Trine again looked to Leatherman early in set two, she scored three of the Thunder's first five via kill and teamed up with Julia Maggio for a block. Zellers assisted twice and added an ace as Trine built a 5-0 lead. Alma would have none of it, answering with a 7-0 run. Baker and Leatherman regained the lead for Trine with a kill each from Zellers. Reese Steenwyk broke a 13-all tie with three kills to help Trine regain the lead, 18-14. The Scots again leveled the score at 18. Trine would put the game away from there. Maggio had a kill, Anna Zellers added an ace and Leatherman finished the Scots off with two blocks and a kill. Addyson Kuzma and Elli Baker assisted on the blocks.

Trine spread the ball around in set three, getting kills from five different players. Maggio and Steenwyk led with four each and Baker had three and an ace. Trine opened up a 12-8 lead but the Scots would again prove to be pesky toward the Thunder's plans of a sweep, leveling the score at 16 and 20. Trine would close out the set as Leatherman regained her stride. Quiet over the first 22 of Trine's points in the set, Leatherman scored the final three to close it out. She teamed up with Maggio for a block and then scored the final two by kill to secure the sweep.
