Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Raiders Take Shootout Against Women's Hockey

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team went to a draw with visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering, ultimately ending the day with just one point toward the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) standings after falling in a shootout. The game ended with a 0-0 score, but the Raiders won the shootout 1-0.

The teams were nearly even on shots throughout the contest with the visitors putting 32 on net while Trine recorded 31 at the other end of the ice. Half of those shots came in the second period for the Thunder when they outshot the opposition 17-9.

Trine took a penalty late in the third period and played the first 60 seconds of overtime down a man. There were no stoppages in the extra period, with the teams playing 4-on-4 rather than the normal 3-on-3 due to the penalty. The lone chance for Trine came in the third minute when Sydney Streb fired a shot off the near post.

Annie Kindseth made the final three of her traditional saves in the final two minutes of the over time period to send the game to the shootout. She finished with 32 saves and two more in the shootout. Just one shot found home in the shootout, going in favor of the Raiders.

Trine finishes the day 1-3-1 overall and in NCHA play. They will look to find a win tomorrow, Saturday, November 22 when they play MSOE for a second time. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
