ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team struck first but ultimately surrendered five unanswered goals in their final game against the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The final score was 5-1.
The Thunder cracked the scoreboard in the 13th minute of the contest. Kalli Graham fired a shot toward goal from the center of the blueline to start the play, with Sydney Streb tipping the attempt to the left side of the net. The goalie turned it away and Chloe Downey ripped the rebound across the face of the net to the near faceoff circle. Faith Jordan was there and fired a shot down the redline that squeezed between the goalie and the post.
It was the lone goal of the first with Trine taking the 1-0 lead into intermission. The Raiders flipped the game on its head in the second scoring three goals while out shooting the home team 9-4.
The Thunder tried to respond in the third, outshooting MSOE 13-8 along the way, but ultimately couldn't find the back of the net. The Raiders scored two more to finish off the win with a 5-1 score.
Trine falls to 1-4-1 overall and in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play after the loss. They will play their first non-conference games of the season when they next take the ice. They are set to host Stevenson University for a pair of games, the first scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 29.
