OLIVET, Mich. – The Trine University women's volleyball team clinched a berth in the MIAA Tournament this afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of The University of Olivet on Saturday afternoon at the Cutler Event Center.
Reese Steenwyk led with 10 kills and
Jordan Budzinski added 16 digs. Trine is now 9-13 (4-2 MIAA) and clinch their spot in the MIAA Tournament by virtue of their tiebreaking win over Saint Mary's College.
Trine took the match 25-19, 25-20, 25-21. The Thunder led nearly wire to wire in set one, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to take a 13-7 lead.
Elli Baker had three kills to spark the rally. Trine kept Olivet at bay the rest of the way for the win.

Addyson Kuzma each had a kill early in set two as Trine set the tone early with a 7-3 lead. Olivet rallied to lead 12-11 but kills by Baker, Leatherman, Steenwyk and Budzinski pushed the Thunder back into the lead, this time for good.
The Comets refused to go without a fight, taking a 14-10 lead in set three. A trio of Comet attack errors turned the tide for the Thunder and Steenwyk took over punching three kills over the final five points for Trine who took the final set 25-21.
Trine hosts Alma on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
