Spartans Split Weekend with Women's Hockey

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Trine University women's hockey team held an early lead but fell to their hosts from the University of Dubuque by the score of 3-1.

The Thunder struck quickly in the contest, needing just 35 seconds to take the lead. A dumped puck ended up along the back boards where Cassandra Biblow was able to come out of the scrum and skate behind the net. Her pass found Aleah Bienek waiting in the slot and ready to score on the top side of the net.

From that point on the Spartans goalie locked in and turned aside the remaining 36 shots by Trine through the rest of the game. Dubuque scored a short-handed goal in the second period to tie the game and then took the lead in the 18th minute of the final stanza. An empty net goal locked in the victory at 3-1.

Zsuzsa Révész played in net for the Thunder. She finished the game with 30 saves, while allowing the two goals.

Trine finishes the weekend 1-3-0 overall and 1-3-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play.
