LOUISVILLE – The #8 Trine University women's cross country team will make their fifth overall and second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships next Saturday. This time will be a first though, as they will do it as NCAA Great Lakes Regional Champions. All five of Trine's scoring runners earned All-Great Lakes Region status, another program first.
It has been a season of program firsts for the Thunder. Trine claimed it's first conference title in program history as well as it's first top 25, top 15, and top 10 national ranking.
Sidney Swick became the third woman in program history to win an individual conference title.
Zach Raber was named MIAA Coach of the Year.
Trine took the team title with 58 points, Calvin took second with 91, and Hope completed the MIAA's sweep of the top three spots in third. John Carroll was fourth and Ohio Wesleyan took fifth. Calvin's Sophie Bull won the individual title in 21:40.85. The top 30 runners earned All-Region status.
Bailey Puckett led the Thunder with a fourth place finish,
Chloe Goodrich and
Eleanor Young stayed close behind in sixth and seventh. Puckett finished in 22:12.23, Goodrich in 22:19.28, and Young in 22:23.34. Each woman claimed All-Region honors for the second consecutive year.
Grace Dubsky placed 14
th for her first career All-Region award, finishing in 22:33.36.
Courtney Study also earned her first All-Region award with a 27
th place finish, crossing in 22:54.30.
Trine will compete for a national championship next Saturday in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
