Triathlon Wins East Regional

TROUTMAN, N.C. – The Trine University women's triathlon team secured their spot at the 2025 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships by dominating today's East Regional contest. They had the top four finishers at the event and placed five in the top ten.

Grace Huisman won the race with a time of 1:13:32. She led from start to finish and had the best times in the swim and the bike while posting the second-best run. Mia Griesmeyer came in second with a time of 1:15:44.7. She gained ground in the run, with the fastest time on foot in the event.

Lia Bartholomew followed less than a minute later with a time of 1:16:30.1. She was fourth out of the water and then posted the fourth best bike and the third best running time to secure her spot. Tessa Szymanski rounded out the top-four in the race with a time of 1:19:20.4. She was second out of the water and then recovered from the tenth best bike by posting the fourth best run.

Paige Aselage finished eighth with a time of 1:23:29.6. Her best leg was the run where she had the sixth best time in the field. Alyssa Seiter was just outside of the top ten with a time of 1:24:21.3. She also made-up time during the run, posting the fifth best time during that leg.

Carmen Blaine finished 14th in the race with a time of 1:26:07.6. Her best leg was the biking portion where she had the ninth best time.

The Thunder will head to Tempe, Arizona for the final race of the 2025 season on Saturday, November 8. Further information on the championship race will be released in the coming week.
