Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Thunder Lose Battle with Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. – A costly second half card cost the Trine University men's soccer team the game, as they fell 1-0 to their hosts from Adrian College.

The Thunder dominated possession in the contest, especially in the first half. They outshot the opposition four to one in the first half and then were up 8-1 in the latter part of the second period. Ben Borak led the way in the contest with four shots, three of which were on goal. Tyler Niemi and Mohamed Aljably each had two shots with one being on goal.

Disaster struck in the 74th minute of play, when high ball caught the wind and sailed beyond the Trine defenders toward the keeper, with an Adrian attacker following beneath. Dillon Lambert had no choice but to try to play the ball as he jumped back into the penalty area, but the side judge deemed he mistimed the maneuver and the referee recorded the red card against him.

The Bulldogs converted on the ensuing free kick to take the 1-0 lead. Down a man, Trine was unable to mount a comeback attempt and the score went final.

The Thunder fall to 1-11-2 overall and 0-3-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play following the loss. They will retake the pitch when they travel to The University of Olivet on Thursday, October 23. The game which was rescheduled after inclement weather on Saturday, is scheduled to kickoff at 4 p.m.
