ROCK ISLAND, ILL. – The Trine University women's cross country team made a statement in the national landscape this afternoon at the Augustana Interregional Rumble. In a field of 11 teams ranked inside the lastest United States Cross Country Coaches' Association poll, the #17 Thunder came out in second place, toppling 9 ranked opponents including #7 UChicago and #10 Washington (Mo.).
Sidney Swick placed second individually.
The Thunder placed second behind #6 Wisconsin-La Crosse. #7 Chicago was third, #10 WashU was fourth and #22 Colorado College took fifth.
Swick crossed in 21:42.0,
Bailey Puckett took 14
th in 22:04.1. The duo each rank inside the top-50 in the country individually according to FloTrack.
Chloe Goodrich took 26
th place in 22:27.5.
Eleanor Young and
Grace Dubsky were close behind on 32
nd and 34
th in 22:37.9 and 22:38.8 respectively.
The Thunder also competed at the Oberlin Interregional Rumble the team took 19
th of 25 teams.
Piper Barker led the Thunder with an 86
th place finish, crossing in 24:51.50.
The Thunder are off next weekend to prepare for the MIAA Championships on November 1
st.
