ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University women's soccer team returned to their winning ways on Tuesday night at Docking Stadium.
Abby Robison netted a 50
th minute goal to provide Trine a 1-0 advantage over rival Adrian College and snap a three game slide for the Thunder. Trine is now 6-4-3 (2-2-0 MIAA) while Adrian drops to 5-8-1 (2-2-0 MIAA).
Madison Kinneer and the Thunder defense returned to form with a dominating performance, especially in the first half. Trine limited the hosts to just one shot that Kinneer turned away. The Thunder offense complimented the defense by controlling possession and sending a flurry of shots at the Bulldogs goalie. The Thunder were unable to connect but kept the keeper on her toes with four shots on goal.
Trine opened the second half with three shots in five minutes. The third time was the charm as
Abby Robison connected with the back of the Bulldog goal off an assist from
Kaeli Sterling. Kinneer made four saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season.
Trine hosts Kalamazoo on Saturday night in a 7:00 p.m. kick for senior night on Shive Field.
