ANGOLA, Ind. – A well balanced offensive attack from the #3 Trine University Men's Basketball team propelled them past Alma, 77-48, on Wednesday evening inside the MTI Center. It was a cold night in Angola but the Thunder were red hot from the free throw line, knocking in 18 of 19 shots.
Nate Tucker led the Thunder with 21 points. Trine is now 13-1 (3-0 MIAA) and winners of six straight. Alma falls to 0-14 (0-3 MIAA).
Trine scored 11 points in the first four minutes and forced two shot clock violations to go with two more steals. After the under 16 minute media timeout the Thunder cooled off, with shots not falling they began penetrating the Scots defense and earning trips to the free throw line.

Cade Brenner made an and-one opportunity to stretch the Thunder lead to 11. Tucker began his midrange onslaught, scoring the next six points for Trine. Tucker finished 9-20 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line, he added a triple to cap off a 21 point performance.
Drew Moore added two dunks to punctuate the first half and fire up the student section.
Alma tried to threaten the Thunder lead to open the second half. The Scots hit a three and cut the edge to 12, Trine scored the next six points to stave off the comeback attempt. Trine would gradually stretch the lead from there. Moore and Tucker hit a pair of free throws each and Cusack added an and-one, Moore hit more free throws and the lead was 25. Moore followed up his free throws with a three pointer.
Logan McKenzie swatted two shots and added a late dunk to solidify an impressive performance.
Trine returns home on Saturday for a matchup with Albion at 3:00 p.m.
