ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University Men's Volleyball fell to St. John Fisher in their home opener this evening inside Hershey Hall.
Kevin Boncaro led the Thunder with 11 kills and
Ryan McDonald had 15 assists and 8 digs. The Thunder drop to 0-2, while the Cardinals open their season 1-0.
St. John Fisher controlled set one early a never allowed back-to-back Thunder points. Boncaro had five of his 11 kills in the frame.
In set two, the Cardinals again took an early lead, The Thunder used a 7-3 run in the middle of the set to close the gap to six. The Cardinals would then close out the set 25-16.
The Thunder found some offense in the third set.
Ethan McClendon drilled a kill and then an ace, Boncaro added another kill.
Seth McDonald and
Johnson-Kuhao Ho'okano-Pelekai added blocks. McDonald had three denials to lead Trine. Trine trailed 11-10 but would be unable to take a lead St. John Fisher would claim the match 3-0 with a 25-18 set three win.
Trine returns to action tomorrow with games at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. against Lancaster Bible College and Mount St. Joseph.
