ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Members of the Trine University men's tennis team traveled to the ITA Central Region Championships hosted by Washington (Mo.) University this weekend.

Both Sammy Yin and Drew Hackney competed in the singles draw. Yin won his opening match against Hope College's Paul Schneider with scores of 6-0, 6-4, before bowing out with a loss to the three seed from the University of Chicago. Hackney won against Franklin College's Nathan Jorboe, 6-2, 6-3, before falling to Andreas Chapides of Denison University in straight points.

Yin along with doubles partner Andrew Spirrison fell in their first match of the tournament before winning the opening round of the consolation bracket. They took down the team from Ohio Wesleyan University 8-4. Then in an exciting second match they came up just short by the score of 8-7(7-3).

The event marks the end of the fall portion of the season for the Thunder. They will next take the courts in 2025 on their spring break trip.
