UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Trine University men's soccer team was outpaced by John Carroll University, which is receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. The Thunder dropped the contest 5-1.
The Blue Streaks scored three goals in the first 25 minutes of the contest, to build a commanding lead. During the half they recorded four shots on goal and nine total shots, while the Thunder were just able to record one shot.
Aidan McGonagle took over in goal for at the beginning of the second half and helped stop the bleeding. He finished the game with six saves, allowing two goals. John Carroll still recorded 12 shots with eight coming on goal in the half.
Trine's lone goal of the contest came in the 71
st minute of play. The team earned a free kick off a Blue Streaks penalty.

The Thunder fall to 2-3 overall following the loss. They will continue their season when they return home for a match against the fifth-best team in the country, hailing from Kenyon College. The match is set to kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.
