Matt Land has named
Mitch Lowney as Head Coach of the Trine University men's golf program.

"I am truly blessed to be the third head men's golf coach at my alma mater, Trine University," Lowney said. "I would like to thank Coach Land and the Athletic Department for giving me the opportunity to come back and be a part of such a wonderful staff and for allowing me to lead a great group of young men. I am looking forward for what the future has in store!"

"We are excited to welcome Coach Lowney back to his alma mater as a staff member," Coach Land beamed. "His experience as a student-athlete on the Trine men's golf team will serve him well moving forward as he continues to build upon the legacy of the program as head coach."

Lowney was named as an All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) golfer in all four seasons played for the Thunder and helped lead the team to two conference titles (2019-20 and 2020-21). Lowney was the recipient of the MIAA Sportsmanship Award in 2023, a prestigious honor given to one senior student-athlete in the conference each year. He holds the fourth-best scoring average in his Trine career and has played in the second-most rounds at 61. Lowney used his fifth-year to play at Oakland University in 2023-24 and was inducted into the Catholic High School League (CHSL) Hall of Fame on 2024.
