MEQUON, Wis. – The Trine University women's comeback effort was just short, as they fell to Concordia University Wisconsin for the second day, this time by the score of 4-3.
Ryleigh White led the way with three points in the contest.
The Falcons recorded the only goal of the first period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. It could have been worse for the Thunder, with
Annie Kindseth finishing the period with 18 saves.
White scored her first of the day in the opening minute of the second period. Her unassisted effort tied the game, but only for two minutes, with the home side scoring to retake the lead. Concordia scored a second in the eighth minute of the period to build that lead to 3-1.
Ellie Warhoftig kept the score close with a goal of her own in the 15
th minute of the same stanza. White and
Lauren Hassler added assists. Once again, Kindseth kept the game closer than it probably should have been with 18 more saves.
The Falcons made it two again early in the third period at 4-2. White scored her second of the night in response during the sixth minute.
Olivia Porthan and
Payton Hans added assists on the goal which made it 4-3.
Kindseth finished the game with 51 saves, after adding 15 more during the final period of the day.
The Thunder fall to 0-2 both overall and in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play following the loss. They will open the home portion of their season on Friday, November 15 when they host the University of Dubuque. That game is schedule to start at 7 p.m.
