BEREA, Ohio - #19 Baldwin Wallace took down the #23 Trine University Women's Basketball team 72-63 in overtime on Wednesday night inside Ursprung Gymnasium.
Erin Sherwood and
Sidney Wagner led the Thunder with 12 points each. BW moves to 3-1 with the win, while the Thunder fall to 3-1.

The battle of nationally ranked teams did not disappoint, neither team led by more than five throughout the night and neither team outscored another in a single quarter by more than three until overtime. The game featured 13 ties and 16 lead changes. The Yellow Jackets used a 7-0 run at the start of the extra frame to seal the win and claim the match up of NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago.

Hailey Cole made a pair of free throws to give Trine a 6-5 lead midway through the first quarter,
Allison Capouch hit a triple to make the lead four, and that would be the Thunder's largest lead of the evening. BW opened the second quarter by taking a 20-15 lead, the Thunder erased the deficit with layups from
Katie Tate and Wagner. Trine trailed 30-27 at the break.

BW again stretched the lead to five, Wagner would pull the Thunder back into the lead with a steal and three made baskets.
Jada Rhonehouse split a pair of free throws and made a layup while Sherwood knocked down a pair from the stripe and the Thunder led again, 38-35. The fourth quarter started with the teams deadlocked at 43. Rhonehouse broke the tie with a pair of free throws. Capouch gave Trine a 48-45 lead with another triple. With 3:46 to play BW led 54-52. From there, Capouch, Rhonehouse, and Sherwood would make baskets to regain the lead at 58-56. With just under a minute left the Yellow Jackets' Maddie Ebbert grabbed an offensive rebound and was fouled by Wagner, she sank the pair and forced overtime.

Trine shot 23-60 from the floor (38.3%) and 3-14 (21.4%) from long range. The Thunder made 14 of 18 free throws for 77.8%, and only committed 10 turnovers while forcing 20. BW shot 26-58 (44.8%) and 4-19 from three point range (21.1%). The Jackets made 16 of 19 free throws (84.2%) and out rebounded the Thunder 46-20.

Trine returns to the MTI Center on Saturday for another match up with an Ohio Athletic Conference foe, this time taking on the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern. That game is set to tip at 1 p.m. and is the first game of a double header with the men's team.
