Thunder Roll to Senior Day Victory over Comets

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University Women's Volleyball team earned win number 20 on the season this afternoon inside Hershey Hall. The Thunder claimed a 3-0 decision over the visiting Olivet Comets on senior day. Madison Dominick pounded 17 kills as Trine improves to 20-4 (4-2 MIAA) and drops The University of Olivet to 13-11 (1-5 MIAA).
 
Anna Zellers handed out 24 assists while Catherine Dobies did a little of everything with 15 digs, 7 kills, 2 blocks, an ace and an assist. Francesca Queary added 8 kills and a block. Trine took the win in straight sets 27-25, 25-13, and 25-23.
 
Dominick sent home seven kills in set one as Trine rallied from a late 24-21 in a tightly contested first set. Trailing late, Dominick registered three kills and an ace to lead the Thunder comeback and take set one.
 
Trine carried the momentum from the late rally into set two, jumping out to a 9-3 lead. The Comets would narrow the gap to 11-7. From there, back to back kills from Dobies sparked an 11-0 run by the hosts. Maya Toma capped the run with two kills of her own and the Thunder took set two 25-13.
 
Set three was tightly contested again with Trine taking a 6-4 advantage early. A trio of service aces from Cara Wlodarczyk gave the Thunder a 12-8 lead. From there Olivet would claim a 19-17 lead. Again Dominick would lead the Thunder rally as she nailed a pair of kills and teamed up with Kylie Rowland for a game winning block.
 
Trine head to Alma on Wednesday, November 6th at 6:30 p.m. before closing the regular season at home on November 8th against #2 Hope College.
