ALMA, Mich. –
Julia Maggio sent home 10 kills and hit .450 to lead the Trine University Women's Volleyball team past Alma College on Wednesday night inside Art Smith Arena. Trine claimed the match in three sets, sending home 15 kills in each as the Thunder offense delivered the victory. Trine is now 21-4 (5-2 MIAA), this is the Thunder's highest win total since 2014 when they finished 24-6. Alma falls to 7-20 and 3-3 in conference play.

 Maggio led the Thunder with 10 kills and added a service ace, while
Cassidy Victor and
Emmaline Leatherman each added 8 kills and Leatherman hit an astounding .889.
Madison Dominick added a half-dozen kills and had a full house with three aces and a pair of blocks.
Anna Zellers dished out 24 assists and eclipsed 500 assists for the season.

Trine started hot, taking set one 25-9. Zellers assisted
Catherine Dobies, Dominick, and Leatherman and added an ace to give Trine an 11-2 lead. The teams traded points before a pair of kills from
Francesca Queary gave the Thunder control once again and raced away from a 15-6 lead to take set one.

Set two saw the Scots come alive, Alma took a quick 2-0 before a slug fest ensued. The set featured 13 tie scores and eight lead changes. The final lead change was in favor of the Thunder. The Thunder erased a 14-13 deficit by forcing one of 19 Scot hitting errors. A Maggio kill gave the Thunder the lead for good, she added her ace for good measure. Those points were the begging of a 10-1 run from the visitors that saw Victor notch three of her kills. Trine took the set 25-16.

Trine quickly grabbed a 4-0 lead in set three and would lead wire-to-wire. The Scots narrowed the deficit to 7-5. Dobies, Maggio, and Dominick would have none of it, with the former two sending home kills and Dominick added her third and final kill as the trio of Thunder hitters sparked a 6-0 run to give Trine a sizeable advantage. Zellers turned her terrific setting into an offensive weapon for the Thunder over the final six points as she dished out two assists and added three kills of her own, including the final two points of the match. The Thunder claimed the final set 25-18.

Trine takes their five game winning streak back to Hershey Hall on Friday night where they will take on nationally ranked #2 Hope College at 6:30 p.m.
