WHITE LAKE, Mich. – Six members of the Trine University football team have been named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) all-conference team, the association announced today. Two members earned first team honors with the other four coming in on second team.
Senior Daniel Budwah represented the Thunder on the first team as a cornerback. The transfer had a standout season during his final campaign. He Finished tied for fourth during conference play with six breakups and was tied for second with a pair of interceptions. His second interception flipped the script in the win against Adrian College when he returned it to the house for a touchdown.
Joining his classmate on first team was Tristan Burrus who earned the spot based on his punt return ability. The wideout led the conference with an average of 8.2 yards a return and had the longest of the season with a 50-yard attempt against Albion College.
Junior Evan Kaehr was the lone offensive player to receive recognition for the Thunder, serving as a second team lineman. He helped anchor the line as Trine averaged 132.6 yards per game during conference play.
Also representing the secondary on the second team is sophomore Charles Thompson. He finished tied for seventh during conference play with five breakups and an interception, tied for eighth. His interception against The University of Olivet came in response to an early mistake by the Trine offense and allowed the team to take the first lead of the game.
Junior Cam McCarver was the final defender named to second team, serving as a defensive lineman. He tied for third during the season with seven tackles for loss and tied for tenth with 2.5 sacks among conference opponents. He was also tied for 18th during conference play with 38 total tackles.
Dan Le-Hernandez was a second member of the team to earn special teams recognition. The senior punter was second in the conference with 39.2 yards per punt and led the conference with 1,410 yards total.
The Thunder finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record, going 4-3 in the MIAA. They finished fourth in the MIAA standings.
