ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team mounted a two-goal comeback to salvage a point toward the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) standings, tying visiting University of Dubuque 3-3.
The Spartans put on an early push to take a convincing 2-0 lead in just the fourth minute of the contest. They scored their first goal under a minute into play with a shot from the point that snuck under the Thunder goalie's pad. They doubled up at the 3:17 mark with a goal from in close, that forced a change in net for Trine.

The Thunder got on the board in the 12
th minute of the period.
Hannah Lambers got started with a shot from the blueline that went wide with a defender attempting to clear the zone.
Ellie Warhoftig kept the puck near the net passing it behind the net to
Kailey Mleko who skated up the boards before firing a shot from the far faceoff circle. Warhoftig tipped it past the goalie and into the back of the net.
Mleko added to her scoring a minute later. This time she stole the puck near the blueline skated toward the near faceoff circle. She made an incredible shot that went bar-down in the top left of the net, all while losing her edge and falling to the ice.
The Spartans found the back of the net one last time in the period to retake the lead at 3-2. That score held until the midway point of the third period. At that point the puck ended up tied up along the boards near the Thunder's offensive blueline.
Ryleigh White eventually poked it free, and
Payton Hans collected it before skating into the zone. She deked the last defender and then scored with a shot over the goalie's glove.
Neither team scored through the remainder of the period or during overtime and the 3-3 score went final, with a shootout set to determine the third point to the standings. Dubuque scored the only successful shot of the three-round event and took that point 1-0.
