Women's Cross Country Posts Record Day at Regionals

11/16/2024 10:24:00 PM

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – The #30 Trine Women's Cross Country team posted their best ever finish at the Great Lakes Regional Championships, finishing third. Trine finished behind other nationally ranked foes #22 DePauw and #20 Calvin. The Thunder topped another nationally ranked competitor, #28 John Carroll.

Teams qualify for the National Championships by winning their region or by earning one of the 22 at-large bids spread across the 10 regions. Individuals qualified by placing as one of the top 7 individuals on teams that did not win the region or earn an at-large. Trine is in a great position to earn one of the at large bids with their victory over John Carroll and wins over Wartburg and Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the Augustana Interregional Meet.

Four Thunder runners earned All-Region honors. The top 40 finishers are considered All-Region.

Sidney Swick placed 11th finishing in 22:13.6, with Bailey Puckett just behind in 12th crossing in 22:20.1.

Eleanor Young finished in 22:42.5 to place 21st.

Chloe Goodrich was 25th to round out the All-Region honorees finishing in 22:47.7.

Hannah Parker was the Thunder's final scorer, crossing in 23:14.7 for 44th place.

Trine will wait until tomorrow for the official qualifiers from the NCAA. If selected, they will compete at next week's NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships at the Lavern-Gibson Cross Country Course, hosted by Rose-Hulman. The meet will take place on Saturday, November 23rd at 11 a.m.
