ADRIAN, Mich. – Madison Dominick drilled 26 kills to lead the Trine University Women's Volleyball team to a five set victory over rival Adrian tonight at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. Trine moves to 15-3 (2-1 MIAA) while dropping the Bulldogs to 5-10 (2-2 MIAA).
 
Dominick led the Thunder offense with 26 kills, Anna Zellers handed out 33 assists, and Kacie Van Kalker had 19 digs as Trine completed the reverse sweep. Trine claimed the win with scores of 23-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-9, and 15-10. Francesca Queary added six blocks.
 
Dominick got right to work in set one, sending home two kills to give Trine an early 4-0 lead. Adrian would rally back to take a 14-13 lead they would not relinquish. Up 24-19 late Trine rallied back with the help of two Cara Wlodarczyk service aces to force a decisive 24-23 set point that Adrian would claim.
 
Adrian stormed out to a 12-4 lead in set two before cruising to a 25-18 victory, keeping the Thunder no less than four points away the rest of the set.
 
In set three, on the brink of a sweep Dominick erupted for 10 kills to stave off the sweep. Trine trailed 16-14 late in the set before closing on a 9-4 run headlined by four Dominick spikes.
 
In set four the Thunder returned the favor from set two, racing out to an 8-4 advantage and keeping their foot on the gas, taking the set 25-9, forcing the decisive fifth set. Dominick sent home six kills and Catherine Dobies added three consecutive service aces in the set.
 
Trine continued their momentum into the fifth set, storming out to a 7-2 lead that featured more kills from Dominick, the teams switched sides and Adrian closed the gap to 10-9 before Trine wrapped up the reverse sweep with a 5-1 run and Zellers assisting Dominick on the final point. In total, Zellers assisted Dominick on 24 of her 26 kills.
 
Trine returns to Hershey Hall on Saturday, October 19^th for an 11 a.m. start time against the Hornets of Kalamazoo.
