ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine women's soccer team was edged by Adrian 1-0 in a MIAA match Saturday afternoon at Weaver Field.

An early goal was the difference as Emily Theisen scored 8:07 into the contest for the only goal of the match. Caroline Fleming and Mackenzie Wilcox picked up assists on the play. Trine dropped to 2-5-2 overall and 2-5 in MIAA play with the loss. Adrian improved to 3-5-1 overall, 1-4-1 in conference play.

Theisen's goal came off a cross to the back post from Fleming. Wilcox kept the ball inbounds and it came to Theisen, who punched it in for her second goal of the year.

Haley Barnes earned the shutout for the Bulldogs as she made two saves. Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso) made five saves in net for the Thunder.

Trine returns to action Wednesday, Sep. 24 with a match at Alma. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
